Advancing Green Hydrogen: Our Journey with Innovate Ukraine

On 3rd February, Hydrogen Ukraine took part in the Innovate Ukraine – UK Celebration and Networking Event in London, bringing together the UK cohort, international partners, and key stakeholders.

Representing Hydrogen Ukraine at this milestone event was our Founder, Oleksandr Riepkin, alongside our valued partners Betty Bonnardel and Gabriella Cursoli from AB5 Consulting. This gathering provided an excellent platform to reflect on the progress we have made since being awarded a grant in May 2024 to advance the H2U Renewable Hydrogen Project in the Odesa Region. Funded through InnovateUkraine by UK International Development and hosted by the British Embassy Kyiv, this grant has enabled us to push forward despite the immense challenges of war.

Significant advancements have been achieved across multiple facets of the project:

  • Our feasibility study for hydrogen production has been pivotal, leading to the completion of material and heat balances, detailed layouts, and optimized designs for electrolysis and storage systems.
  • Progress on the Reni-Galati pipeline has been remarkable. Geodetic and geological surveys are complete.
  • Comprehensive power flow analyses have been conducted, and phased integration plans for wind and solar energy into hydrogen production are now in place.
  • Geological studies for underground hydrogen storage are also well underway, with extensive fieldwork and laboratory analysis providing critical data to guide development.

This event reinforced the spirit of collaboration and innovation that drives the hydrogen transition forward. We extend our gratitude to the UK Government and all stakeholders for their unwavering support in making sustainable energy solutions a reality.

Together, we are not just envisioning the future—we are building it.
