Wind as the First Layer of Hydrogen
The foundation of the hydrogen economy is renewable energy. And when it comes to renewable hydrogen production, wind energy is one of its most important building blocks.
On 25-26 June 2026, during the Ukrainian Recovery Conference 2026 (URC2026) in Gdańsk, Poland, the Hydrogen Ukraine team held a working meeting with representatives of VESTAS, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers.
The discussion focused on the further development of our Hydrogen Valley project in the Odesa region, which combines large-scale renewable electricity generation with renewable hydrogen production. Wind energy plays a central role in the project’s concept, providing the renewable electricity required for future electrolysis facilities.
During the meeting, the teams exchanged updates on the project’s current status, discussed technical aspects of potential cooperation, and explored the next practical steps required to advance the wind power component of the project.
While the project is still progressing through its development phase, meetings like this are essential for aligning technical approaches, strengthening cooperation, and preparing the groundwork for future activities.
Step by step, we continue building the renewable energy foundation for Ukraine’s future hydrogen economy.
