Hydrogen Ukraine reaches another major milestone: the Reni renewable hydrogen project in the Odesa region has successfully completed a comprehensive feasibility study package and reached an investment-ready development stage.

This means the project has now moved far beyond the conceptual phase and is entering a level of maturity where technical, infrastructure, geological, and system integration parameters have been comprehensively assessed, creating the foundation for future investment decisions, international partnerships, and implementation planning.

The completed studies cover the full renewable hydrogen value chain:

• Feasibility study for the hydrogen production complex (electrolysis plant), including three production pathways designed to power the future: Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia & Green Methanol;
• Techno-economic study for the future hydrogen transmission pipeline between Reni (Ukraine) and Galați (Romania);
• Feasibility study for the construction of wind and solar power plants, including their integration into Ukraine’s energy system and connection to hydrogen production facilities;
• Geological substantiation of sites for the construction of underground hydrogen storage facilities in saline formations in the Odesa region.

At a time when Europe is searching for secure, scalable, and reliable sources of renewable molecules, Ukraine is demonstrating that it can become more than just a future supplier of green hydrogen. The Reni project reflects how Ukraine can transform its energy system from one shaped by geopolitical vulnerability into one built around resilience, decarbonization, and integration into future European clean energy value chains.
