Hydrogen Ukraine and Ukrsilenergoproekt Launch Feasibility Study of the Electrical Engineering Part for Hydrogen project in Odesa region
Hydrogen Ukraine has signed an agreement with the “Scientific and Technical Center of Electric Power “Ukrsіlenergoproject” to develop a feasibility study for the construction of a 240 MW solar power plant (SPP) and a 160 MW wind farm in the Odesa region. Critically, the study will place a strong emphasis on integrating the generated renewable energy directly into the project’s hydrogen production process.
Moreover, we will explore various options for supplying the generated clean electricity. These options include:
- Feeding power directly into the grid of Ukraine’s integrated power system.
- Supplying electricity to the power grid of Moldova.
- Connecting to the ENTSO-E-Romania grid.
The use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, is crucial for producing green hydrogen, which is hydrogen generated through electrolysis powered by renewable energy. Unlike traditional hydrogen production methods that rely on fossil fuels, green hydrogen is produced without emitting greenhouse gases, making it a key player in the global shift towards sustainable energy.
Ukraine holds substantial potential in renewable energy, particularly in the wind and solar sectors. The country’s vast plains and favourable weather conditions make it an ideal location for large-scale renewable energy projects.
