Hydrogen Ukraine at the 5th Energy Law Conference

On 3 July 2025, Iaroslav Kryl, CEO of Hydorgen Ukraine, took part in the 5th Energy Law Conference organised by the Ukrainian Bar Association. The event brought together leading experts, lawyers, representatives of government agencies and businesses to discuss current changes in Ukraine’s energy legislation.

During Session 2, dedicated to the development of the gas market, special attention was paid to the prospects of hydrogen energy.

Hydrogen is no longer a futuristic concept, but a strategic necessity. Iaroslav Kryl emphasised that Ukraine has all the prerequisites to integrate hydrogen into its own energy system and at the same time become its supplier to the European Union countries.

The issue of using the existing gas transmission system to transport renewable gases, in particular hydrogen, biomethane and synthetic gases, was discussed separately. This approach allows for the effective use of existing infrastructure and its gradual adaptation to new market conditions.

In general, we see that hydrogen is increasingly being integrated into national and international energy strategies. It is seen not only as an environmentally friendly source of energy, but also as a tool for strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence.

The next logical step should be the adoption of a comprehensive ‘Hydrogen Package’ of draft laws that will regulate all stages of the creation of a hydrogen economy — from production to storage, transportation, and final consumption.
