Hydrogen Ukraine Drives Forward Alternative Energy at Zakarpattia Forum

Iaroslav Kryl, CEO of Hydrogen Ukraine, participated in the International Economic and Tourism Forum of Zakarpattia, where he discussed the crucial role of alternative energy sources in strengthening the energy security of Ukraine.

At a panel discussion on energy decentralization, Mr Kryl presented our renewable hydrogen production projects for the Odesa and Zakarpattia regions – two areas with massive potential to become clean energy hubs. This initiatives are vital for Ukraine, especially in the context of the ongoing war with russia.

By investing in renewable hydrogen, Ukraine can reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, cut off dependency on russian energy, and decentralize its energy supply—making it more resilient against external threats.

With its geographic location, bordering four EU nations, and rich natural resources, Zakarpattia is uniquely positioned to become a leader in green hydrogen production. The region’s potential and its proximity to key European markets makes it a prime candidate to drive the export of clean hydrogen—a critical step in Ukraine’s energy transition.

By leveraging Zakarpattia’s assets, Hydrogen Ukraine is creating new opportunities for regional growth, reducing carbon emissions, and helping Ukraine stand strong in the global energy market.

The event is organized by the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme as part of the Support to Inclusive Economic Development in Ukraine by Linking Export Strategy with Regional Development and SDGs Project with the support of the international cooperation project ReACT4UA («Application and Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the Field of Trade»), funded by the German government and implemented by the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
