Iaroslav Kryl joined the discussion of Ukraine’s hydrogen prospects
Yesterday, Iaroslav Kryl, CEO of Hydrogen Ukraine, joined a round table discussion entitled ‘Hydrogen: a trap or an energy quantum leap for Ukraine?’ organised by the Ukraine Energy Initiative of the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine.
The event brought together scientists, business leaders, energy experts and representatives of the public sector to answer the question: is Ukraine ready to transition from traditional energy sources to a new hydrogen economy, and what should be the first practical steps? The hydrogen economy is seen not only as a path to decarbonisation, but also as an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian industry, create new jobs and integrate into the European renewable energy market.
During the panel discussion ‘Ukraine’s Energy Transition: The Hydrogen Perspective Between Infrastructure and Sustainable Development,’ Iaroslav Kryl shared his vision for the future of the hydrogen industry and emphasised the critical role of investment and international partnerships. He noted that the hydrogen strategy should become not only an element of the ‘green’ transformation, but also a powerful tool for the country’s economic recovery after the war.
“Hydrogen is not a theoretical project of the future, but a practical opportunity for Ukraine to consolidate its status as a leader in the energy transition in Europe. We have a unique combination of resources, geography and scientific potential that can put the country on the global map of hydrogen innovation,” Iaroslav Kryl emphasised.
The round table became an important platform for developing a common position that will allow Ukraine to move forward in creating a new energy system.
