Hydrogen Ukraine is not only focused on implementing innovative business projects but also actively strengthens the scientific foundation of hydrogen sector. In collaboration with the Institute of Industrial Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, we prepared a scientific report titled “Development of Hydrogen Energy in Ukraine” and presented it to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine in July this year during a meeting of the Scientific Platform. The Ministry gave a positive response to our report, and the conclusions and suggestions will be taken into account when developing proposals for priority investment projects.

Key proposals

At the international level:

• Expanding cooperation with Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia within the framework of the Central European Hydrogen Corridor initiative, including the finalization of agreements with relevant ministries and attracting funding for the modernization of Ukraine’s gas transmission network through the Connecting Europe Facility mechanism.
• Integrating Ukrainian projects into the European Hydrogen Bank funding program and establishing a working group with representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy, and other stakeholders to facilitate cooperation and ensure Ukraine’s participation in the bank’s auctions.

At the national level:

• Exempting imported equipment for hydrogen energy from customs duties, including hydrogen production equipment, hydrogen turbines, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and refueling stations.
• Insuring investments in hydrogen infrastructure against military and political risks to attract more capital into the sector.

We strongly believe that collaboration between businesses and the scientific community is crucial for the development of hydrogen energy. Scientific research provides well-founded and realistic strategies that align with global trends and national priorities. Hydrogen Ukraine is committed to strengthening this collaboration, unlocking new opportunities for sustainable development and the deployment of advanced technologies.
