Ukraine in the European architecture of guarantees of origin

On 25-26 February in Prague, Iaroslav Kryl, CEO of Hydrogen Ukraine, took part in the CEE Hydrogen Summit, where he presented on “Digital Infrastructure for Hydrogen Guarantees of Origin: From Data Transparency to Market Access”, addressing one of the most critical challenges for the emerging hydrogen economy – credibility.

The focus was clear:

  • Green hydrogen certification must go beyond paperwork.
  • Digital twins, blockchain-based verification and real-time automated tracking of hydrogen origin can ensure integrity across the entire value chain.
  • Transparency is not an add-on – it is the foundation for preventing greenwashing and enabling true market access.

As Europe scales hydrogen deployment, Guarantees of Origin will determine who can trade, export and integrate into cross-border markets. For Ukraine, this is particularly strategic. With strong renewable potential and existing gas infrastructure, digital traceability systems can position Ukrainian hydrogen within the European regulatory framework from day one.

The discussion in Prague confirmed a simple truth: hydrogen markets will not be built on molecules alone – they will be built on data, trust and interoperable digital systems.

Hydrogen Ukraine continues to advance solutions that connect production, certification and market integration – ensuring that Ukrainian hydrogen is not only green, but verifiable, bankable and globally competitive.
